Questions We Get Asked a Lot
Straight answers, no waffle.
A valid driving licence, a passport or national ID card, and a physical credit card in the main driver's name. If your licence isn't in English, grab an International Driving Permit before you fly. Electronic licences or photocopies won't cut it, I'm afraid.
Absolutely, and you won't even notice you've crossed. There are zero border checkpoints. The only clues are the speed limit signs switching from miles to kilometres and the road markings changing colour. Just let the rental agent know at booking so your insurance covers both jurisdictions.
The left, same as the rest of the UK and the Republic of Ireland. All rental cars are right-hand drive. If you normally drive on the right, roundabouts and country junctions are where you'll need to concentrate. You'll get used to it by the time you reach the Causeway Coast, promise.
Nope, not a single one. Northern Ireland is toll-free. In the Republic of Ireland there are several toll roads including the M50 around Dublin (electronic, barrier-free, register or pay online) and traditional toll plazas on other motorways. We'll brief you on all of this at pickup.
Insurance (Third Party Liability and CDW as standard), VAT, equipment kits, and a transparent fuel policy. Mileage terms vary by vehicle but are clearly stated. You can add zero-excess cover for extra peace of mind. No hidden charges, the price at booking is the price you pay.
Choose your time and location when booking. We'll have someone at arrivals with your name on a sign. Walk to the car, sign the paperwork, get the keys, ten minutes tops. If your flight is delayed, we adjust. No stress.
Free cancellation up to 7 days before the rental start date. For premium and luxury cars, free cancellation is available up to 30 days before. A 6% payment service fee applies to all cancellations.
Depends on the vehicle, some cars need no deposit at all. Where one's required, it goes on a physical credit card in the main driver's name and gets refunded when you return the car in good nick.
Pounds sterling (GBP). Northern Ireland uses sterling. If you pick up or drop off in the Republic of Ireland, local pricing may be in euros. The border is invisible but the currency isn't, worth having both if you're crossing.
Just 15-20% of the total to lock in your booking. The rest goes to the rental agent when you collect the car.
Some vehicles are available without a credit card, these are clearly marked when you search. Worth checking if you don't carry one.
Age and experience requirements vary by vehicle. The details are shown clearly when you search for available cars, no surprises at the desk.
